Profile
Research
The institute's research in the above-mentioned areas of organisation, innovation and sustainability is strongly empirical in nature. This means that the methodological approach emphasises both theory-driven, large-scale, hypothesis-testing and exploratory, theory- and hypothesis-generating empirical approaches. We often combine standardised surveys with qualitative methods such as qualitative interviews and case studies (mixed-methods approach) in our data collection.
TEACHING
As part of its course offerings, the Institute for Business Management and Organisation has set itself the goal of providing students with scientific knowledge and methods for solving problems in business management in general and, in particular, the aforementioned innovative and sustainable dimensions of these tasks. Students are motivated and guided to work independently by applying what they have learned to real and fictional case studies in a practical manner, as well as to conduct in-depth research based on selected, current issues. By involving students (e.g. in seminars) in the design or collection of research data, they gain insight into business processes and at the same time practise relevant research methods. In teaching our course content, we like to use innovative methods of knowledge transfer, such as online-based strategic business games, modular video cases and interactive group work.
