    • Introduction to Scientific Writing (271037)

      Contents:
      1. Research and Citation: The first part covers the following topics: literature management with Citavi, databases, academic websites, source research, and citation.
      2. Storytelling: The second part focuses on writing a scientific paper. It begins with a brief overview of the formal requirements of an academic paper. However, it often proves challenging to formulate and narrow down a topic, develop an adequate research question and outline, and consistently adhere to them throughout the paper. This colloquium is designed to convey these skills.
      3. Literature Review: The third part introduces the method of conducting a literature review using examples from research, which students can apply in their theses.
      4. In the fourth part, students have the opportunity to present outlines of their theses or seminar papers and receive feedback.
      Comments:

      Participation in the colloquia on academic writing offered alongside the seminars is highly recommended for all students who wish to write a seminar or thesis at the Institute of Strategic Management and Organization. Credit points are earned as part of the respective seminar.

      This seminar examines various topics in the field of management and organization (e.g., entrepreneurship, innovation, sustainability, social networks) with a focus on the African continent.
      We ask ourselves to what extent established Western theories can be transferred unchanged to the African context and discuss what management and organizational research can and, if necessary, must learn from a stronger reference to this context.
